Personality Is Back: Ditching Minimalism In 2025

HOW 2025 INTERIOR TRENDS ARE REDEFINING INTERIOR SPACES

For years, minimalism dominated interior design with its clean lines, neutral palettes, and clutter-free aesthetic. However, as we step into 2025, a fresh wave of trends is reshaping the way we think about our spaces. Homeowners are embracing bold colors, playful patterns, and curated personal touches, marking a return to personality-driven design. At LINEN + ORCHID, we’re excited to help clients craft spaces that radiate individuality while maintaining harmony and elegance.

Bold Colors Take Center Stage in 2025 Interior Design

Color is making a bold comeback in 2025 interior design trends, moving beyond mere accent walls or subtle pops. Rich jewel tones like emerald green, burgundy red, and deep aubergine are being paired with earthy shades such as terracotta, chocolate brown, and sand beige. These vibrant hues evoke warmth, energy, and a sense of artistic flair in any room.

For example, in a recent project in Raleigh, we transformed a kitchen by introducing a stunning emerald green Bertazzoni range, complemented by white and walnut cabinetry and antique bronze hardware. This jewel-toned focal point gave the room a timeless yet personalized look.

Playful Patterns for Expressive Interiors

Patterns are making a splash in 2025, appearing on wallpapers, rugs, upholstery, and more. From geometric shapes to vintage-inspired motifs and organic prints, patterns are a great way to inject personality into your space.

Take one of our projects in North Hills, for example, where we reimagined a dining room using an abstract mural wallpaper paired with a geometric area rug. Neutral-toned furniture ensured the patterns didn’t overwhelm the space, resulting in a lively yet cohesive look.

2025 Trends Spotlight: Embellishments and Sophistication

Embellishments like plaid textures, tassels, and French Provincial accents are adding charm and depth to interiors this year. Thoughtful details like these bring dimension and personality, making spaces feel more refined and inviting.

In a current primary bedroom project, we used striped rattan-textured wallpaper and a custom-upholstered bed with French Provincial fabric for a tranquil, elegant retreat. Sculptural lighting and tasseled curtain tiebacks added layers of sophistication.

Curated Personal Touches: Telling Your Story Through Design

2025 is all about creating spaces that reflect your unique story. Personal mementos, heirlooms, and meaningful art pieces are being celebrated for the depth and warmth they bring to homes.

In one of our "Designer Day" consultations, a client had a remarkable collection of travel memorabilia and wall art. We curated a layout that showcased these treasures on custom floating shelves, turning their family room into a gallery of cherished memories.

Layering Trends with a Neutral Base

If you’re drawn to minimalism but want to explore 2025’s vibrant trends, layering is the perfect technique. Start with a neutral base—think clean-lined cream sofas or soft beige walls—and add bold accents like patterned rugs, jewel-toned armchairs, or colorful lampshades.

In our Weston kitchen project, we began with soft beige walls and warm wood tones. Smoky glass pendant lights, veined porcelain countertops, and plush blue velvet bar stools added personality without disrupting the serene foundation.

Pro Tip: A neutral base provides flexibility to swap bold accents seasonally, keeping your space fresh and timeless.
